Waymo Announces Expansion into Miami
Waymo has their sights set on Miami for their next new autonomous rideshare city, in partnership with Moove.
Waymo has announced that they will be expanding their autonomous rideshare service into Miami, with first public rides expected some time in 2026, and testing expected to start in early 2025.
Unlike other recently announced cities including Austin and Atlanta, Waymo is launching these cities in their own Waymo One app, rather than partnering with another app such as Uber for riders to use.
However, there has been one new partnership announced - African company Moove, who will be providing fleet management services. What this entails has not been disclosed directly, however we can safely assume that operations such as cleaning and charging, as well as dispatching the vehicles will be contracted out to this company.
In addition, Waymo has also announced that Moove will be taking over operations in Phoenix, similarly dispatching and managing the fleet in this existing market. It will be interesting to see if the service quality changes once this switch has occured. Let us know in the comments if you've noticed anything!
